On 5th February, 1915, the 3rd Coldstream Guards of 4 Brigade, 2nd Division, moved into trenches at Cuinchy near La Bassée where they remained until relieved on 7th February when they marched back to billets at Bethune. At 2.10pm on the 6th February, they made a successful attack against enemy positions in the Cuinchy brickstacks and captured a German trench. Ernest Bryant died from wounds on 6th February but the exact date on which he was wounded is not known. |
